Vidovdan Evening of Patriotic Poetry

On Friday, June 26, the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Toronto hosted an evening of patriotic poetry entitled "In Anticipation of Vidovdan," organized in cooperation with the Serbian-Canadian Writers' Association "Desanka Maksimović."
Around ten members of the association recited their patriotic poems. The program also featured actors from the Serbian Theatre Toronto, who performed excerpts from dramatic works depicting the Battle of Kosovo.
On this occasion, Consul General Dejan Eraković read his poem "Kosovo Ravno" ("The Plain of Kosovo") and expressed his hope that the Vidovdan gathering of poets at the Consulate General in Toronto would become an annual tradition.
The Consul General encouraged those in attendance to continue fostering solidarity with the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and to preserve their love for their homeland through poetry and other forms of artistic expression.
